Mr. Webre's vintage take on The Nutcracker transports audience members back in time to historic Washington, DC and an A-list party on the Potomac. Starring George Washington as the heroic Nutcracker and King George III as the villainous Rat King, the production sparkles with swirling snowflakes and shimmering cherry blossoms. This year's Nutcracker features TWB's Company and Studio Company artists alongside 350 students from its three school campuses in NW and SE Washington, as well as Alexandria, Virginia. Special guest stars will include the FOX News correspondent Griff Jenkins on Friday, December 3, Washington Nationals' GEICO Racing Presidents on Friday, December 10, local media personalities Cynné Simpson on Saturday, December 11 and Holly Morris, among others.
At each performance, theatre-goers will be able to purchase unique gifts from TWB's Sugar Plum Shoppe. Merchandise for sale includes a large variety of specialty Nutcrackers as well as TWB branded items and apparel.
TWB will also host a variety of special events surrounding The Nutcracker including the beloved Nutcracker Tea Party at the Willard InterContinental Hotel on December 12. For more information on this and other events, please call TWB Special Events Manager Elizabeth Early at 202.362.3606 x123.
