Aloha TWB Family!

A few TWB Company members (Sona Kharatian, Maki Onuki, Jonathan Jordan, Brooklyn Mack and Jared Nelson) and I hopped across the Pacific to the beautiful island of Hawaii to reprise the company’s wildly successful production of ALICE (in wonderland) and share the artistry and performance experiences that kept DC audiences on the edges of their seats last spring. Now, I’d love getting warm sand between my toes, splashing in the crystal clear water and taking on the cultural perspective of this island, but unfortunately during this visit there will be very little Septime time as the duty of ballet calls/

Following the success of ALICE, word has travelled faster than the White Rabbit throughout the ballet world. “It is going to be a wild ride” as The Washington Ballet combines forces with Ballet Hawaii in premiering this unforgettable journey down the “rabbit hole" this weekend at the Neal Blaisdell Concert Hall in Honolulu.

It has been quite an experience setting ALICE with the Ballet Hawaii Summer Intensive artists, who have been wonderfully excited and dedicated in recreating, through glorious movement, the classic tale by Lewis Carroll. These young artists will share the stage with our very own company members, who reprise their roles in Alice’s magical adventure.

It is always a great pleasure to share the artistry and the culture of ballet with young artists, but the reward is greatest when collaborations like ALICE (in wonderland) can be shared with all. Of course, I invite all of you in Hawaii to share in this experience (August 11 at 7:00pm & August 12 at 2:00pm). Mahalo!
