Hey there TWB family,

The start of this week at the ballet has not been like that of the past few weeks. Can I tell you, that The Washington Ballet home has been more alive than ever since we’ve unlocked the doors this morning. On today we opened the doors of the building to some of the most talented ballet dancers out there to attend our 2012 Summer Intensive Program. And they have taken over this place, and already called home!

Today, these students brought the heat and the sweet aroma of icyhot! Bright and excited to learn and grow as young dancers, these students have already starting connecting and building that dance family bond as they stretched and calmed each other nerves going into the placement class. Although, they were all nervous to their ankles, they all were amazing as they showed exactly why we’ve selected them to join us this summer. From relevé to whipping pirouette turns, these bright young ladies and gentlemen bring not only the talent but the passion and drive to pursue their dreams of gracing the concert hall stage as a professional.

Just as excited as the students The Washington School of Ballet staff is beyond excited to welcome these students, as they lead these students in instruction in ballet and a little sprinkle of creative movement classes. And man do we have some of the best instructors in the DMV. In fact, the instructors had a pretty “intense” job today as they sat on the panel reacquainting with all of the students as they placed them into their levels for the summer. More importantly, these teachers are dedicated to guiding and pushing these students to the max and they help them develop into even better dancers in the coming weeks.

Stay in tune for what we have in store with this talented bunch of students, because they are going to put on the floor soon with their Summer Intensive performances in the coming weeks.
