Hello TWB Family,

I invite you to join me and the Company dancers on an enchanting journey to experience the world’s most beloved fairy tale, Cinderella. Returning to the concert stage for the first time since 2008, the production opens with a preview on March 20 and runs March 21 through 24, 2013 at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Eisenhower Theater.

Set to Sergei Prokofiev’s impassioned score, this romantic full-length production is complete with lush costumes by Judanna Lynn and dazzling choreography. The popular story of the poor girl whose fairy godmother helps her win the love of a prince is retold with warmth and wit. series of giant clocks serves as the backdrop during the climactic stroke of twelve. With them, set designer James Kronzer brings the anticipation of midnight to life on stage.

In creating this ballet, I was most influenced by the founding choreographer of the Royal Ballet, Sir Frederick Ashton. The famous stepsisters, like in Sir Frederick’s production, are cast as men, adding a bit of riotous humor to the evil pair. A fusion of clever characters, lavish costumes and fantastical sets create a imaginary journey in this beautiful, romantic and occasionally comical kingdom. So, if the shoe fits, wear it -- because Cinderella will sweep you off your feet.
