The Washington Ballet spends more than $1.4 Million on its community engagement and educational efforts, the most notable of which is The Washington Ballet studios at THEARC.  Opened in 2005, this satellite campus of The Washington School of Ballet bustles with the energy and excitement of more than 300 youth and 100 adults who study ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern and African dance in two state-of-the-art studios.  To ensure access for all, TWB offers tuition on a sliding scale, based on household income and ability to pay.  TWB@THEARC students following the same graded curriculum and conservatory-style training as The Washington School of Ballet's flagship campus in Northwest Washington, DC.

TWB@THEARC hosts an annual four-week Summer Dance Intensive.  Begun in 2006, the Intensive melds academic and artistic learning for maximum impact.  Seventy-five students attend classes from 8am-3pm Monday through Friday to jump and bend through ballet, modern, African and hip hop lessons.  Incorporated with movement courses are drama and creative writing lessons, academic tutoring and art and music instruction offered in collaboration with the Corcoran Gallery of Art and Levine School of Music.  TWB partners with Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington to provide daily afternoon childcare from 3-6pm.
