Audition Information
All new students of The Washington School of Ballet must attend a placement audition. The School programs run for a full school year, September through June, and we do not hold mid-year auditions.
Auditions for the 2008.2009 School Year - NW Campus :
August 16th

Auditions for the 2008.2009 School Year - Alexandria :

Classes begin on September 3rd.
Registration starts 30 minutes prior to audition. Please bring $25 Audition Fee (cash or check, made payable to The Washington Ballet), a head shot, and dance or full-length picture. You will also need a registration form, which you can download HERE or pick up on the day of the audition.
What to Expect
Students will participate in a technique class and will be assessed according to technical ability and age-appropriate standards. Prior experience will also be taken into consideration.
Attire
Girls should wear a leotard, tights, and ballet shoes (students on pointe should bring pointe shoes). Boys should wear black tights and a white T-shirt. However, if your child has never danced before, you may bring them in form fitting, comfortable clothing for the audition. Please remove all jewelry and be certain that the student's hair is pulled away from their face and secured, preferably in a bun.
Please bring the following with you to the audition:
 The audition registration form. An audition number will be assigned to your child upon their arrival. Forms are also available at the audition.

The $25 audition fee. Please bring check or exact change. Students will not be allowed to audition without paying the audition fee.
A photo of your child that clearly shows their face and full body. Dance photos are not necessary but preferred if you have them already.
Students who are accepted into The Washington School of Ballet must enroll for the entire school year. In order to audition for The Washington Ballet company productions, such as The Nutcracker, the dancer must be enrolled in The Washington School of Ballet. Please check the school bulletin board in the front hall for updated notices regarding any Nutcracker auditions.
