Sun Hee Kim

Professor, dancer and choreographer, Sun Hee Kim began her ballet training at the age of nine with UM Young-ja at Gwangju and continued her education at Ewha Woman's University in Seoul, Korea before receiving an M.F.A at New York University. Ms. Kim has also studied Dance Pedagogy at the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia. As a professional dancer, Ms. Kim performed with the Korean National Ballet Company and New York Colloquium Dance Company. She was awarded first prize at many Korean Ballet competitions. In 1981, Ms. Kim began to create her own works such as The Song of the Mermaid, Fall and Adagio. Seeking to combine the movements of the Korean traditional dance with those of classical ballet she staged Sok-Pul-yi, Variation Jang-go- Chum. She, currently serves as a professor of dance at the Korean National University of Arts. Ms. Kim has served on the jury for many international ballet competitions including International Ballet Competition-Varna, Paris International Dance Competition and the Prix de Lausanne.
