Fernanda Oliveira

from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is in her first season with the Washington Ballet Studio Company. She trained at the Escola Estadual de Danca Maria Olenewa from 2002 to 2010, when she was awarded a full scholarship to The Washington School of Ballet, under the direction of Kee Juan Han. As a student in the PTP and the Trainee Program, she trained with Carlos Varcárcel, Kristy Windom, Vladimir Djouloukhadze, Monique Meunier and Elaine Kudo. With TWB she performed Le Corsaire, staged by Anna-Marie Holmes, and Twyla Tharp`s Push Comes to Shove, among other ballets. In 2011 Ms. Oliveira was a third prize recipient in the regionals of the Youth America Grand Prix and in the summer of the same year she attended the Houston Ballet Summer Intensive on full scholarship to train with Sabrina Lenzi, Sally Rojas and Claudio Munoz. Last December she was invited to perform in Miami Youth Ballet`s The Nutcracker, in the role of Dew Drop. Fernanda is very thrilled to start her professional career with the Washington Ballet’s Studio Company.
