Kimberley Sonderegger

KIM SONDEREGGER, born in Minneapolis, MN, trained at the schools of the Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theater, and Houston Ballet and under notable instructors Marjorie Mussman, Maggie Black, David Howard, and Willie Burmann. Ms. Sonderegger was associated with Ballet Arizona for 20 years, first as dancer, and later as teacher and school administrator for the School of Ballet Arizona. As Associate Professor of dance at Arizona State University, she taught ballet technique and methodology courses, mentoring both undergraduate and MFA students. In 2008, Ms. Sonderegger joined the full time faculty of Miami City Ballet School (MCBS), under the direction of Edward Villella. At MCBS her choreography was regularly praised for its sensibility, musicality, and creativity. Working with Company leadership and national dance educators, Ms. Sonderegger researched and produced Miami City Ballet's Self Study for accreditation with the National Association of Schools of Dance. She has taught, choreographed, and coached in Japan and South America as well as across the United States. Ms. Sonderegger was invited by Kee Juan Han to join the faculty of The Washington School of Ballet in summer 2013. She teaches level 6 through Professional Training Program students, Washington Ballet Trainees, and the professional company. Ms. Sonderegger holds a Master's degree in Anthropology (Summa cum Laude) from Arizona State University, specializing in the prehistory of the North American Southwest. She has worked as an archaeologist in the Middle East, Spain, and the United States.
