Carly Wheaton*

Carly Wheaton of San Francisco, California, is in her first season with The Washington Ballet’s Company after dancing for two seasons in the Studio Company. Before moving to the East Coast, Wheaton spent a season dancing for Ballet Memphis as a Trainee where she performed in pieces like Julia Adam's The Little Prince and Trey McIntyre's Pork Songs. Wheaton spent her training with the Marin (Calif.) Ballet and at San Francisco Ballet School. While in San Francisco Ballet School, Wheaton trained under Lola de Avila and Shannon Bresnahan, and performed in John Neumeier's Yondering in addition to Helgi Tomassan’s The Nutcracker. While with Marin Ballet, she performed a variety of roles including Odette in James Kudelka's Swan Lake and the Sugar Plum Fairy in the world premiere of Julia Adam's The Nutcracker. Wheaton spent this past summer dancing in The Boathouse Project—an original production choreographed and produced by Julia Adam, set on Point Reyes National Seashore. While with The Washington Ballet, Wheaton has performed in George Balanchine’s Theme and Variations, Stars and Stripes and Who Cares, Michael Pink’s Dracula, and several works by Septime Webre including: Hemingway: The Sun Also Rises, Oui Non and the Helen Hayes Award winning production of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.
