The Washington Ballet @THEARC offers a Summer Dance Program, Summer Evening Program, and Summer Adult Open Classes.
The Washington Ballet @THEARC’s Summer Dance Program consists of four weeks of study.
A total of 75 students will be accepted to the daytime program (25 students per level). There are three levels: Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4/5. Students age 8 and up are eligible for the program.Students must either audition for our program or have completed level 2.
Space is limited and registration is granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
The classes for the day program will be open to Level 2 and up.
The classes for the evening program will be open for PreBallet 1 through Level Teen 2/3.
Full payment due: June 10, 2015
Auditions for students aged 4 and up will be held the weeks of February 2, March 2, April 6 and May 4. If spaces are still available after these auditions, we will hold additional auditions the week of June 2. Parents must call to schedule auditions since they will occur during our regularly scheduled classes. A non-refundable audition fee is due at the time of audition. Fee schedule listed below:

Students will participate in ballet, jazz, modern, African, character, stretch, art, music and repertory.

Students will participate in ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, stretch, character, choreography, dance history, music and acting for dancers.
To make the SE Campus’ Summer Dance Intensive accessible to all income levels, tuition is based on a sliding fee scale. Income verification is required during the registration phase. The cost for the Summer Dance Program is based on payment groups ranging from $100-$1500 per child. Payment plans are available. A non-refundable fee is due at the time of audition. Full payment must be received by Friday, June 10, 2015.
There will be a culminating event on the last day of the intensive. Students of all levels will perform. Parents and guardians are invited to attend this showing.
Please make arrangements to pick up your child by 3 PM each day. Only parents or designated adults are allowed to sign-out their children. A 15-minute grace period is allowed; parents will be charged $1 per minute past the grace period.
The Boys and Girls Club offers a limited number of discounted slots for families interested in before and after care. If interested, contact The Boys and Girls Club at 202.610.9707. Children may be at the facility as early as 7AM for before care, and from 3-6PM for after care.
The dress code during the Summer Day Program is as follows:
Girls: Any solid colored leotard, pink convertible ballet tights and pink leather ballet slippers, character shoes, pointe shoes for Levels 3 and up, dance cover-ups.
Boys: White leotard, grey tights, white socks, and ballet slippers and character shoes.
The Summer Evening Program offers ballet technique classes for children ages 4-16. The program includes the following levels: Pre Ballet 1, Pre Ballet 2, Pre Ballet 3, Ballet 1A, 1B and 1C and Teen Ballet 1 and 2/3. Classes meet 1 to 3 times per week. The curriculum and dress code follow those of our Fall/Spring school program.
The cost for the Summer Evening Program ranges from $50 to $600 based on class level and the sliding fee scale. Payment plans are available. A non-refundable fee is due prior to registration. Full payment must be received by Friday, June 10, 2015.
The Evening Program culminates with observations of the classes during the last week. Parents and guardians will have the opportunity to see their children’s progress throughout the program.
