The Washington School of Ballet is excited to invite you to an in class showing of composition work by our Trainee Students.
The Trainees Choreographic Showcase is a much-anticipated annual event and a cornerstone of The Washington School of Ballet’s Professional Division. Introduced 9 years ago by choreographer Mimmo Miccolis, this visionary project has evolved into one of the most acclaimed choreographic training programs in the country.
Designed as an immersive journey into the art of dance composition, the showcase reflects Miccolis’ belief in the transformative power of choreography as a personal and cultural voice. Under his mentorship, students are challenged not only to master the technical aspects of creating movement, but also to develop a bold artistic identity, encouraged to explore themes that resonate with their generation and to use dance as a language of change.
Over the years, countless alumni have gone on to create original works for schools and professional companies worldwide, crediting their foundation in this program as pivotal to their artistic growth. Today, the Trainees Choreographic Showcase stands as a beacon for emerging choreographers and a celebration of the future of dance, where tradition meets innovation, and young artists are empowered to shape the art form with courage, creativity, and authenticity.
