Ashley Baker is a Soloist with Ballet Idaho, as well as a choreographer and teacher. She began
her ballet training at Johansen Olympia Dance Center in Olympia, Washington, then moved to
Seattle to continue training at the Pacific Northwest Ballet School. She studied at PNB from
2011-2017, including two years as a Professional Division student. During her training, she
attended summer intensives at American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet School, PNB, Central
Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, BalletMet, and Oregon Ballet Theatre. She joined Ballet Idaho as a
company member in 2017. Since joining Ballet Idaho, Ashley has had the opportunity to perform
Principal and Soloist roles in works by George Balanchine, Lar Lubovitch, Edwaard Liang,
Christopher Stowell, Penny Saunders, and James Kudelka, among others.
As a choreographer, Ashley has created works for Ballet Idaho’s Company, Trainee Division,
Youth Company, and Academy. She has also choreographed for students of Olympia Dance
Center, Dance Boise, and Opera Idaho’s 2025 production of La Traviata.
Ashley is a teacher for the Ballet Idaho Academy, sharing her love of ballet with students of all
ages in BIA’s pre-professional levels, the Ballet Idaho Trainee Program, Adult Division, pointe,
and variations classes. In 2024, she was a YAGP coach for a group of Ballet Idaho Academy’s
advanced students.
