Emmanuel Patterson

Emmanuel Patterson is a distinguished graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he studied under the esteemed guidance of Susan Jaffe and Brenda Daniels. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in ballet.  

During his time at UNCSA, Emmanuel performed in both contemporary and classical ballet works by renowned choreographers such as Ethan Stiefel, Merce Cunningham, Alexei Kremnev, and Aszure Barton. 

Following his graduation, Emmanuel joined Ballet Virginia, directed by Lydia Roberts-Coco. During his tenure, he performed numerous soloist and principal roles in productions such as Bolero, Swan Lake , The Nutcracker, and Sleeping Beauty. In addition to his performance career, he contributed to Ballet Virginia’s upper school faculty, where he choreographed and taught classes.  

After retiring from performing, Emmanuel accepted the role of Conservatory Dance Director at the High School of Liberal Arts in New York City.  

He is now thrilled to join the Washington Ballet team.
