Felecia Baker grew up in Chesapeake, Va and began her dance training at Academie de Ballet. She trained for 11 years studying the Vaganova Method for ballet technique, as well as tap, jazz and contemporary. She spent her high school years attending The Governor’s School of the Arts in Norfolk, VA. She studied ballet under Lorraine Graves, Joni Petre-Scholz and Kathy Brenner Lasakow. Felecia performed leading roles in excerpts of La Sylphide, Giselle, Raymonda, La Bayadere and Swan Lake and prominent roles in original choreography by the faculty. Also, during her years of training, she spent her summers at Richmond Ballet and American Ballet Theater. After graduating in 2011, Felecia joined Richmond Ballet as a trainee.
Felecia has danced with Charlottesville Ballet, Ballet Memphis, and Ballet Virginia. Throughout her performing career, she has performed principal roles in productions of The Firebird, The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, and Cinderella. She has also performed Peasant Pas from Giselle and George Balanchine’s Square Dance. She performed as a guest artist with Olney Ballet Theatre in their production of The Nutcracker, under the direction of Patricia Berrend. Felecia has most recently performed with Ballet Ashani under the direction of Iyun Harrison in his original adaptation of James Baldwin’s Giovanni’s Room.
Aside from dancing and performing, Felecia has a passion for fitness. She holds various group exercise certifications and most recently has become a GYROTONIC ® Trainer.
