Studio Company Dancer
Katelyn Yang was born and raised in Seattle, Washington and began dancing at the age of four. At age 16, she moved to the Netherlands to pursue professional training at the Dutch National Ballet Academy under Ernst Meisner, Nathalie Caris, Ainara Garcia Navarro, and Grigory Tchitcherin. In 2023 she graduated from the academy with an associate degree in classical ballet, and in 2024 with a bachelor’s in teaching ballet. During her time with the Dutch National Ballet Academy, Katelyn performed with the Dutch National Ballet in Sir Peter Wright’s production of the Sleeping Beauty as a Nymph. With the school she has performed on the Dutch National Opera stage as Dulcinea in the Don Quixote dream scene, a demi-soloist in Paquita, and in excerpts of Forsythe’s Artifact Suite (Hypno, Locomotive, and Nine-Point) under the direction of Forsythe repetiteur Amy Raymond. She has also performed original works from Mauro Bigonzetti, Remi Wortmeyer, and Ernst Meisner.
Throughout the years Katelyn has been a medalist at the YAGP semi-finals, TanzOlymp Berlin, and Taiwan Grand Prix. In 2020 she participated in the Prix de Lausanne and received scholarship to train at the American Ballet Theatre JKO School. She took online classes from the ABT School for a short period of time prior to her move to Amsterdam. Katelyn is thrilled to be a part of the Washington Ballet’s 24/25 season as a member of the studio company.
